Blind runner aims to raise $500,000 for several different charities

David Kuhn, runner

  • legally blind
  • 58 years old
  • Aims to raise $500,000 APIECE for 12 different charities
  • Will run 11,000 miles in 13 month’s time (that’s 30 miles per day)

According to David’s website explanation of why he contributes - and asks others to contribute - to so many charities is because each one that he donates to has greatly aided someone in his life in a huge way. He gives an explanation for specific instances when each charity helped those close to him on his website page, “Why run for so many charities?”

The most important reason that David runs is to raise money for cystic fibrosis research, as his granddaughter was diagnosed with the disease. David says that what he does pales in comparison to the battle that his granddaughter fights every day to stay alive.

The Daily Chronicle newspaper also reported that David has turned down job offers just so that he can continue to run every day and strive to raise the goal monetary amount.

This is an incredibly inspiring story. Current Delta Gammas and DG alumnae can absolutely volunteer their time or make monetary donations for this cause.

Not only should we be thankful for all that we have, but let’s start 2012 out by DOING GOOD in every way that we possibly can.
